At Dekalb Avenue it becomes <span style="font-weight: bold;">Whiteford Road</span> finally terminating at Memorial Drive. Lot's to see along the way: the manor homes near Emory, Victorians grand and small, high style craftsman bungalows, and vernaculars. Briarlake farmhouse vernacular beauty

I've just learned that this is the </span><a style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;" href="http://dlg.galileo.usg.edu/vanga/id:dek070-85">John N. Gresham home place built Built in the 1880s(?) by Forrest P. Hudson</a> another picture.<br /><br />It's a farmhouse with out-buildings. It's inside I-285! You probably can't even see it in summer. Unless you live in the neighborhood or are an extreme architecture tourist, you'll never see it in any season. Georgian overlooking Oglethorpe University

This home delights every single day. All the individual elements are great: the lot, siting, out buildings, the architecture, the fence, the landscaping, the "yellow," the upkeep. Agnes Scott's new Julia Thompson Smith Chapel

This new beauty by <a href="http://www.mauricejennings.com/"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Maurice Jennings architects of Fayetteville, Arkansas</span></a>, was dedicated in April, 2008. You've probably seen other <a href="http://www.mauricejennings.com/chapels.html">Jenning's chapels</a> in the magazines, certainly the breathtaking <a href="http://www.mauricejennings.com/cooper.html"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Mildred B. Cooper Chapel Bella Vista, Arkansas</span></a>. You wouldn't know about the Smith Chapel unless you cruise Chandler road south of Decatur. A little house dominates Wieuca Road at Phipps Boulevard

Pink mirror wall on Oakview between downtown Oakhurst and downtown Kirkwood

It's the only pink mirror wall (with pennants) I know of. I visit the wonderful Wigwam building and neighborhood in Atlanta's Old 4th Ward

Lucky day for me yesterday: <span style="font-weight: bold;">Chad Mason</span>, local musician and good guy, invited me to visit his Wigwam home. Built in 1940, it's an international style chunk of Miami Beach planted at the east end of the MLK historic district. Hillyer Place, Decatur Georgia, a block of charm

Sycamore Street - "Old Sycamore" to some - is a few blocks of great old houses on the east side of town. (See "<a href="http://decaturresidents.com/Decatur%20High%20Rise/web/historic_district.pdf"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Old Decatur Historic District</span></a>") It's rather out of the way if you are in a hurry, but Architecture Tourists need to slow a bit. I'm delighted every time I see it. Iron works at the Tomlinson Gardens on Peachtree in Brookhaven

<span style="font-weight: bold;">Look at those shadows.</span> Wow. I didn't notice until I got the picture on my computer. The Tomlinson Gardens has a French colonial look. It's on a huge lot for the area. It's GREEN. It has a bit of worn seediness that would go for charm in New Orleans. Glenn Memorial UMC steeple looking good in the winter light

Glenn Church gives architecture tourists a buzz when they are fortunate enough to drive by. I had the occasional pleasure of slowly circling the buildings in the car pool line. Inside and out, this place makes you feel good.
