Great Atlanta Corners - Peachtree Street at 14th Street

It's relatively flat; it has a few of Atlanta best new buildings; two of the buildings acknowledge the corner. Colony Square, remarkably, welcomes folks inside. It's somewhat comfortable for humans. It's all so squeaky clean these days.<br /><br />Here are a few lunch time walkers and First Church of Christ, Scientist (Edward E. Yellow! The Palm Lion house and a modest East Atlanta Bungalow

I seem stuck on yellow houses. They do catch the eye. But the palm-lion house combines the tropics, the savannahs, and yellow as few can. Ward Lake Road is the west edge of Dekalb County's <span class="HEADTEXT"><span class="HEADTEXT">Seminole Landfill</span></span>. 9th Street Midtown charm

It's for rent! A 2-bedroom. I'm sure it the best of several rental units on the property. 9th street isn't on the way to anywhere. Other 9th Street facades are bigger than this one. This is a bungalow that got dolled up but elegantly. The porch, the yard. I love tiny but beautiful front yards. 3 Modest moderns: Ansley Park, Morningside, Loring Heights

There are plenty of modern houses planted in Atlanta's intown neighborhoods. I'm not categorically for or against them. Most are eye-catching. Some for the wrong reasons. (You can click on the pictures to enlarge them in Flickr.)<br /><br />This is my favorite Morningside modern. It make sense to my eye, great proportions, wonderfully sited and landscaped. Home on "Old" Stagecoach Road in Ellenwood Georgia, North Clayton / South Dekalb County

Stagecoach Road runs from Stockbridge to Ellenwood. Gently rolling countryside with meadows, trees and a handful of lakes. It seems rural now but it won't be rural for long. Zen View: Downtown Atlanta from Moreland Avenue and I-285

This is Moreland Avenue at Henrico Road just north of I-285. Drive north from here to watch this zen view disappear as you descend to the South River Bridge, elevation just a tad under 800'. This is landfill country, you might need to hold your nose. Red Bridge Over Ormewood Avenue in Grant Park Atlanta

The <a href="http://www.bridgehunter.com/ga/fulton/12105280/">Ormewood Avenue Bridge</a> is certainly one the most beautiful bridges in Atlanta. It's a railroad bridge in Grant Park, part of the <a href="http://www.beltline.org/">Atlanta BeltLine</a>. A tall red arch, it's not on the way to anywhere these days. You've probably never seen it. Zen View at Emory, Houston Mill at Clifton Road

Take Houston Mill south from Lavista Road to Clifton Road. It's a woodsy curvy, hilly road that makes you wonder if you are still in the city. Approaching Clifton you'll pass Ben Franklin School on the right and Gatewood Road on the left. You'll crest the hill next to the bank and blammo. You get a sense of why the Emory area was so desirable to the Chandlers. The pictures don't do it justice. Have a look the next time you are near Emory.
